Resources & Information

Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum

Our School District has recently adopted the Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum Harmony.  Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) are skills, knowledge and attitudes that help us create meaningful relationships, develop healthy identities, and engage with one another productively.

Harmony provides learning resources, tools and strategies for our teachers to build the skills, knowledge and attitudes. Harmony SEL helps teach students:
  • To recognize and appreciate one another’s similarities and differences while promoting community in and outside of the classroom.
  • The ability to identify with and understand another person’s emotions (empathy), reduce stereotyped thinking and learn critical thinking skills
  • Understand healthy and unhealthy communication patterns
  • Effectively communicate and engage with each other
  • Constructive approaches to resolving conflict
  • Proactive social skills and qualities that are important to friendship
  • The consequences of bullying and how to provide peers with support
This tool will be used by our elementary teachers in conjunction with morning meeting- a 20 minute time at the beginning of the day dedicated to building community in our elementary classrooms.  This is a free resource and anyone who would like can look at the entire website and curriculum.  The website is harmonysel.org.
