Trevor Muir Inspires Local Educators at Back-to-School Event

Marinette, WI – September 30, 2024 – Staff in the Marinette School District kicked off the new school year with a powerful and inspiring message from nationally recognized educator, author, and speaker Trevor Muir. Muir, known for his engaging approach to teaching and project-based learning, was the keynote speaker at the district’s pre-session days, held at the high school on Aug. 29th.

Speaking to an auditorium full of eager educators, Muir energized the audience with stories from his own classroom experiences and shared practical strategies for fostering creativity, collaboration, and real-world connections in the classroom. His message emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with students and creating learning environments that encourage engagement and critical thinking.

“Education is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about empowering students to make connections between what they’re learning and the world around them,” Muir told the audience. “When students see the relevance in their education, they become more invested, more curious, and more capable of solving real problems.”

Superintendent Corry Lambie expressed excitement about Muir’s visit, stating, “We are thrilled to have Trevor here to help us start the year with inspiration and innovation. His approach aligns with our district’s mission & vision to provide students a sense of belonging with an education that prepares them for the daily challenges they face.”

Muir, who has authored books such as The Epic Classroom and The Collaborative Classroom, has gained a national following for his work in transforming classrooms into vibrant learning spaces. His emphasis on storytelling and connection-building in education has earned him recognition as a thought-leader in modern teaching practices.

“This was just what we needed to start the year. Trevor's passion for education reminded us why we became educators in the first place – to make a difference in students’ lives, ” Lambie stated.

Now just finishing the first month of school, because of Trevor’s positive message staff have continued these lessons into the classroom and we as a district have incorporated new learning into our professional development days for our staff.

As the school year continues, we encourage the staff in the Marinette School District to take on new challenges with a renewed sense of purpose, inspired by Trevor Muir’s message of innovation, connection, and the power of storytelling in education
